- Registration for new IDs begins today and concludes by May 28.

The health department has mandated a new system of distinct, color-coded identity cards for all categories of hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrative personnel. This directive aims to enhance security and streamline access control within government hospitals, ensuring that only authorized individuals can enter restricted areas.
Laboratory technicians will receive orange cards, while nurses will get brown and Group D employees green. Sanitation workers are assigned yellow cards, and outsourced employees will carry blue IDs. The registration process for these new identity cards began today, May 25, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude by May 28, 2026.
This initiative requires each hospital to appoint a nodal officer to oversee implementation. Hospitals are also directed to arrange for high-speed broadband connectivity and necessary office infrastructure to support the program. Technical assistance will be provided by Webel for any technology-related issues during registration, which is being managed with volunteers to prevent overcrowding.
