Summary
- Care home received 'Requires Improvement' rating from CQC.
- Inspectors found residents in dirty clothes and unkempt.
- Systemic failings noted in safety, care quality, and governance.

The Coach House care home in Great Yarmouth has been rated as 'Requires Improvement' following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Inspectors uncovered widespread and systemic failings in safety, care quality, governance, and person-centred care. During their September 2025 visit, they observed residents in dirty clothes, some with unkempt hair, and frequently found individuals with urine-soaked clothing. Daily notes confirmed persistent issues with personal hygiene.
Further concerns included malodours and damaged furniture. Family members reported inconsistent communication, though some praised staff. The CQC also noted that staff were not always responsive to individual needs, with one instance of asking a sleeping resident about breakfast. Staffing levels were inconsistent, and some staff felt unsupported.
While minor improvements were noted in a follow-up inspection between October and November 2025, the home breached a new regulation concerning dignity and respect, and continued to breach regulations for safety and governance. These issues indicate ongoing challenges in providing consistent, high-quality care.
