Navapur Bird Flu Surges: New Farms Infected
14 May
Summary
- Bird flu infections continue to spread in Navapur.
- Two additional poultry farms tested positive for avian flu.
- Authorities are initiating fresh culling operations for 50,000 birds.

Avian influenza infections continue their spread in Navapur, with recent tests confirming the virus in two additional poultry farms. These new detections, located beyond previously identified containment zones, signify an escalating infection rate, according to district officials.
Authorities have designated these two farms as new epicentres and are commencing extensive surveillance of surrounding poultry units. To curb the spread, birds within affected perimeters, estimated at around 50,000, will be culled. This follows earlier outbreaks where birds in numerous farms across multiple epicentres were culled.
Intensified containment efforts include the destruction of approximately 3.9 lakh birds, 21.6 lakh eggs, and 4.99 lakh tonnes of feed by Rapid Reaction Teams. These latest culling operations are set to commence on Thursday, reinforcing measures to control the persistent outbreak.
Despite the ongoing challenges, Navapur remains a vital food hub, with its layer birds contributing significantly to daily egg production.
