Volunteer Medics Surge to Over 2,000 Emergency Calls

Volunteer medics with Norfolk Accident Rescue Services (Nars) have answered a record number of emergency calls, exceeding 2,000 in the last year alone. This surge in demand highlights the critical role the charity plays in providing rapid medical assistance across the region.

Established in 1970, Nars operates from its Dereham base, deploying four specialized response vehicles. The organization relies on a committed network of 50 volunteer professionals, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, who dedicate their time to saving lives.

These highly trained volunteers are crucial in responding to a range of emergencies, from devastating road traffic collisions to sudden cardiac arrests. Their swift actions often make the difference between life and death in critical situations.
