On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur organized a significant blood donation camp at Futala Lake premises. This event marked International Childhood Cancer Day and was intentionally held on Valentine's Day to highlight themes of love, humanity, and social responsibility. The drive successfully collected over 300 units of blood, reinforcing its importance in the treatment of paediatric cancer patients.
This year's camp represented the 18th consecutive year of this initiative. Under the guidance of Dean Dr. Raj Gajbhiye and Associate Dean Dr. Devendra Mahore, the camp was inaugurated by Medical Superintendent Dr. Avinash Gawande. The overarching message, "A pledge to donate, a mission to save lives - every home should have a blood donor," served as a powerful symbol of compassion. Numerous medical professionals, social workers, and volunteers contributed to the event's success, alongside the Students' Council of the Medical College, Dr. Himanshu Piprikar, the GMCH Nagpur Blood Bank team, and CanKids-KidsCan.
