Mysuru district is intensifying its efforts for the upcoming Pulse Polio immunisation campaign, scheduled from June 28 to July 1. Authorities have pinpointed 1,396 high-risk areas, such as migrant settlements and construction labour camps, to ensure comprehensive coverage. A total of 1,641 vaccination booths will be operational on June 28, targeting children aged 0-5 years. Following this, health workers will conduct door-to-door visits from June 29 to July 1 to reach any unvaccinated children. Special surveillance will be maintained in vulnerable pockets, with 51 mobile teams deployed for outreach activities. The campaign mapped 778,059 households and 219,521 children, employing 6,772 vaccinators and 328 supervisors. Transit booths will also be established at tourist spots like Mysore palace on the campaign's first day. Despite India being polio-free since 2011, sustained vigilance is necessary due to cases in neighboring countries.
