Mysuru Maternal Health Sees Major Improvement

Mysuru district has reported a remarkable decline in maternal mortality cases throughout 2025. Maternal deaths have significantly reduced, falling to 11 cases this year compared to 28 recorded between January and December 2024. This success brings the district's Maternal Mortality Ratio down from 76.50 per lakh live births in 2024 to 30.20 per lakh live births in 2025.

The reduction is credited to a series of proactive measures implemented by the district health authorities. These include the consistent distribution of iron and calcium tablets to pregnant women, as documented in their Mother Cards. Furthermore, private hospitals are under strict scrutiny, with penalties imposed for any deficiencies in maternal healthcare management, overseen by the Deputy Commissioner.

Enhanced community outreach has also played a crucial role. Awareness campaigns are actively promoting the Kilkari helpline for pregnant women and addressing crucial issues such as the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. Emergency vehicles are strategically deployed in vulnerable areas, ensuring continuous monitoring and rapid response to critical situations.
