Mumbai's Organ Donation Surge: 3 Donors in 24 Hours
9 Feb
Summary
- Three male organ donors provided organs in a single day.
- Donations occurred at Mulund, Navi Mumbai, and Mahim hospitals.
- Mumbai has recorded 10 organ donations this year.

Mumbai experienced a significant spike in organ donations, with three men donating organs in a single 24-hour period.
The families of a 48-year-old and a 70-year-old facilitated donations of kidneys, liver, cornea, and skin at Mulund's Hira Mongi Hospital and Fortis Hospital in Navi Mumbai, respectively. A 52-year-old man's family also donated kidneys at SL Raheja Hospital in Mahim.
These three donations have brought Mumbai's total organ donor count to 10 for the year, a notable increase from last year's 53 donors. The trend indicates that private hospitals are currently leading in deceased organ donations, with a call for increased efforts from government hospitals to promote this life-saving practice.
