Mum's Nap Urge Hid 13 Breast Tumours
1 Mar
Summary
- Extreme fatigue and back pain masked 13 breast tumours.
- A lump discovered in February 2025 led to a cancer diagnosis.
- Treatment included mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

A 39-year-old mother experienced severe fatigue and daily back pain, initially attributing her symptoms to being a self-employed mum and endometriosis. The fatigue was so extreme her eyes would feel heavy after lunch, and her body would hurt. She also noticed a lump in her armpit in December 2024, which later disappeared.
In February 2025, she discovered another lump in her right breast. Prompted by her husband, she visited her GP in April 2025. Doctors referred her for a biopsy, and by May 2025, she received the devastating news: 13 tumours and invasive lobular carcinoma. Her cancer had grown to 9.7cm.
She underwent a mastectomy with reconstruction in June 2025, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Now on hormone therapy, she has been induced into menopause and will eventually have a hysterectomy. The mother emphasizes the importance of advocating for oneself if something feels wrong with one's body.
