Daily Multivitamin May Turn Back Biological Clock
9 Mar
Summary
- Daily multivitamins may slow biological aging, study found.
- Two aging clocks showed significant improvements with MVM use.
- Cocoa extract showed no impact on biological aging markers.

A groundbreaking study, published in Nature Medicine, indicates that daily multivitamins might significantly slow biological aging. Nearly 1,000 participants, averaging 70 years old, were part of the COcoa Supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS).
Over two years, those taking a daily multivitamin showed a measurable slowdown in aging, as assessed by two specific biological clocks, PCPhenoAge and PCGrimAge. This effect was particularly pronounced in individuals who exhibited accelerated aging at the study's outset.
Interestingly, a cocoa extract supplement taken by another group in the study did not demonstrate any impact on the aging markers. However, the multivitamin group also saw improvements in inflammation and cognitive function.
Researchers suggest that multivitamins could represent a cost-efficient and accessible method to enhance public health and extend healthy lifespans. While further large-scale trials are needed, these results are described as "encouraging" and a "major advance" for the supplement field.
