Nicola Hewitson is continuing the inspiring legacy of her daughter, Abbi, who passed away on Christmas Eve 2025 following a battle with a brain tumour. Abbi, a vibrant 31-year-old from Hartlepool, was diagnosed with a low-grade glioma in 2018 after experiencing her first seizure. She bravely underwent multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. During her treatment, Abbi demonstrated incredible generosity, raising more than £8,000 for the neurosurgery department at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. She also supported Macmillan Cancer Charity. Abbi's mother has since donated dozens of toys to the University Hospital of Hartlepool, bringing comfort to children receiving care there in her daughter's memory. Nicola remembers Abbi as someone who "just loved life" and possessed a "massive personality" characterized by kindness and generosity. Abbi's desire to raise awareness and funds for others profoundly impacted those around her.
