3 Minutes: Women's Monthly Breast Health Check
20 Oct
Summary
- New campaign promotes a three-minute monthly self-check for breast changes.
- India saw approximately 2.37 lakh new breast cancer cases in 2024.
- Campaign aims to make breast awareness a continuous habit, not just October.

HCG Cancer Hospitals has launched the 'Left Right Kiya Kya?' campaign, a nationwide initiative promoting monthly breast awareness among women. The campaign urges women to spend just three minutes each month checking for changes, aiming to make this a consistent habit rather than a seasonal reminder. This effort comes as India faces a significant burden of breast cancer, with GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates indicating around 2.37 lakh new cases and 96,100 deaths in 2024. Breast cancer constitutes roughly 30% of all new cancer diagnoses in Indian women.
The campaign utilizes the simple reminder 'left' and 'right' to check both breasts, encouraging recognition of any unusual changes in size, shape, or skin. An AI-generated film and on-ground activations, including a musical performance and doctor demonstrations, support the awareness drive. Medical experts emphasize that while most breast changes are not cancerous, they should not be ignored. Prompt consultation with a doctor is advised for any detected lumps or unusual discharge, stressing that breast awareness complements, but does not replace, routine mammograms.
