Summary
- Mohali becomes launchpad for India's first functional ageing and longevity program
- Geni Health conducts quarterly and annual functional ageing assessments
- Campaign aims to help people live longer, stronger, and more independent lives

In a significant development on World Diabetes Day 2025, the city of Mohali became the launchpad for a groundbreaking health initiative aimed at redefining ageing in India. The "Jiyo100 Saal" mission, billed as the country's first functional ageing and longevity program, was unveiled on November 14th, 2025, with the goal of helping people live not just longer, but stronger, healthier, and more independent lives.
The program was designed by Geni Health, which has now become the country's first centre to conduct functional ageing assessments every quarter and annually on individuals' birthdays. These assessments measure functional age across six key parameters: strength, mobility, cognition, metabolic health, mood, and immunity. Experts at the launch event emphasized the importance of this scientific approach, noting that targeted medical interventions can slow the ageing process and prevent diabetic complications.
With India's senior population crossing 140 million, the "Jiyo100 Saal" mission addresses the critical need to improve functional lifespan. Chief guest and MP Malvinder Singh Kang described the campaign as a "nationwide movement with the potential to transform India's health future," signaling a shift towards a stronger, healthier nation. Geni Health's founder and CEO, Gurjot Narwal, stressed that the healthcare model of the future will focus on prevention and longevity over sick-care, as India enters the "longevity era."
