In a recent interview, acclaimed British actress Miriam Margolyes, 84, has made a frank admission about her health and her decision to decline a necessary knee replacement surgery. Margolyes, who won a BAFTA award for her acting, first experienced issues with one of her knees several years ago, leading her to undergo a knee replacement procedure at the time.
However, when the other knee began causing her problems, Margolyes has now revealed that she is refusing to have the second knee replaced, fearing that she would not survive the operation. Margolyes explained that she previously had a TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) procedure to replace her aortic valve, and she believes this has made her more vulnerable, reducing her chances of recovering from another major surgery.
The actress stated that the only scenario in which she would consider going under the knife again would be if it were necessary to save her life. Margolyes acknowledged that her decision means she will have to continue living with the discomfort and stiffness in her remaining knee, but she is unwilling to take the risk of undergoing the replacement surgery.
