First Cyclospora Fatalities in Michigan

Two deaths in Michigan have been attributed to cyclosporiasis, representing the first reported fatalities associated with the state's current outbreak. As of August 3, Michigan has recorded 11,234 cases and 193 hospitalizations. State health authorities emphasize that cyclosporiasis is typically not fatal, with deaths being rare in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is monitoring these deaths as part of its ongoing investigation into a multistate outbreak.
