- Students fund activities through personal contributions.
A group of eleven MBBS students from Govt Medical College and Hospital, Sundargarh, have initiated 'Seba Sadan,' a compassionate endeavor to support vulnerable populations. This initiative goes beyond their medical studies, organizing free health camps and providing meals and essential supplies to orphanages and elderly shelter homes. Their activities began earlier this year, with initial visits focusing on providing food and raising awareness of broader needs.
The students, including final-year student Akash Raiguru who coordinates the efforts, are driven by a desire to extend care beyond hospital walls. They aim to reach neglected and vulnerable individuals who may struggle to access basic healthcare and support. The group funds its operations through contributions from its members and fellow students, embodying the motto 'Seva, Sneha, Samarpan' (service, affection, and dedication).
Future plans for Seba Sadan include expanding visits to more orphanages and old-age homes, as well as exploring ways to assist underprivileged families through healthcare, food, and educational support. Despite the challenges of balancing these activities with their rigorous medical education, the students are committed to their cause, believing that understanding the people behind illnesses is as crucial as treating them.
