Queensland health authorities are on high alert for a measles outbreak after several infected individuals were reported to have visited crowded public venues in the region. According to the latest information, three infected people attended a Jelly Roll concert at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on October 24th, while another case was confirmed at a special event at Sea World on the Gold Coast on the same date.
Additionally, an infected person spent time at two Brisbane hospitals, St. Vincent's Private Hospital and North West Private Hospital, on November 8th. Health officials have warned that the highly contagious virus can linger in the air for up to 30 minutes after an infected person has left a room, putting others at risk of exposure.
The measles outbreak in Queensland has led to a total of 30 cases reported so far this year, with additional cases identified in the central Queensland and West Moreton regions in the past week. Authorities are urging anyone born after 1965 to ensure they have received two doses of the measles vaccine, as the virus can lead to serious complications, especially in young children and adults over 30.
