The warning covers exposure at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Plum Coulee on Jan. 4, Boundary Trails Health Centre near Winkler on Jan. 5, and Centre médico-social De Salaberry District Health Centre in St-Pierre-Jolys on Jan. 9. Measles is highly contagious, spreading through airborne droplets, and can remain infectious in the air for up to two hours.
Symptoms typically appear one to three weeks post-exposure and include fever, runny nose, and a characteristic rash. While most recover, complications can affect infants and those with weakened immune systems. Provincial data shows 322 confirmed and 29 probable measles cases since last February, with over 86% unvaccinated, underscoring the critical role of MMR/MMRV vaccination.
