Measles Alert: Air Canada Flight Passenger Exposed Travelers

Authorities have issued a measles exposure alert for individuals who traveled on Air Canada flight AC 835 on January 8 and were present at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport’s arrivals and baggage areas. The flight landed in the afternoon, and the exposure window is between 3:51 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. This alert comes as a total of nine other measles cases have been confirmed across the Lanaudière, Laurentians, Laval, and Montreal regions.
Further public health warnings have been issued for several locations visited by the infected person between January 10 and 13. These include a Super C grocery store, the Verdun hospital’s emergency department and radiology clinic, and a Familiprix pharmacy. Public health is urging anyone who visited these places during the specified times to monitor for symptoms and contact 811 Info-Santé if they appear.
The ministry recommends vaccination as the most effective protection against measles. High-risk individuals for complications include infants under one, immunocompromised persons, and pregnant individuals not adequately vaccinated. The last reported measles outbreak in the province occurred between December 2024 and April 19, 2025.
