Measles Alert: CA Resident Exposed Burlingame Restaurant
28 Feb
Summary
- A Santa Clara County resident with measles visited a Burlingame restaurant.
- The infected individual recently returned from international travel.
- Public health officials urge vigilance for those exposed between specific times.

Health authorities have issued a warning after a Santa Clara County resident diagnosed with measles potentially exposed others while dining in Burlingame earlier this week. The individual, an adult who had recently traveled internationally, visited a Panda Express restaurant on two separate days.
Those who were at the restaurant during the specified hours are urged to be aware of potential exposure, especially if unvaccinated. Symptoms to watch for include fever, cough, runny nose, and a rash. It was noted that the Santa Clara County resident is vaccinated and currently isolating at home.
This marks the first confirmed measles case in Santa Clara County since May 2025 and is part of a broader increase in cases across California and the U.S. Health experts emphasize that the measles vaccine is safe and effective, attributing the rise in cases to lower vaccination rates.
Public health directors have reinforced the importance of vaccination, noting that two doses of the MMR vaccine provide the best protection and can halt outbreaks. Both San Mateo and Santa Clara counties continue to adhere to existing state vaccination guidelines.
