On November 16, 2025, the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matri Bhavan in Kolkata celebrated its 75th anniversary with a daylong grand public celebration at Nazrul Manch. The hospital, which began its journey on October 13, 1950, as a maternity facility, has since expanded to offer 80 in-patient beds across key medical departments and 20 specialized neonatal beds with advanced intensive care.
The inauguration program featured Vedic chanting and the lighting of 75 lamps by Pravrajika Premaprana, the 6th president of Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. A commemorative volume on Pravrajika Bhaktiprana, the 4th president of the order, was also released during the occasion. Premaprana praised Bhaktiprana's "tireless service and spiritual strength" that shaped the institution from its infancy, with her 59-year attachment making Matri Bhavan what it is today.
The hospital, equipped with four operation theatres, ICU, ITU, and HDU units, provides subsidized treatments for all diseases of women and children. Going forward, the hospital plans to start an orthopedic OT facility and newly introduced dialysis units. The platinum jubilee celebration, which began on October 18th with special puja, Chandipath, and homam, will conclude on November 17th with a musical program by renowned sarod player Amaan Ali Bangash.
