Collector Warns Strict Action on Maternal Deaths

District Collector M.N. Harendira Prasad has issued a stern warning to medical officials, stating that strict action will be taken if any maternal deaths occur within the district. He emphasized that ensuring no maternal fatalities during childbirth is the primary responsibility of the Medical and Health Department. Negligence in such critical situations will not be tolerated.
During a review meeting on maternal death surveillance held on Friday, November 29, 2025, the Collector noted that two maternal deaths had been reported in September 2025. One case was linked to the Kanithi Primary Health Centre, and the other to the Nakkavanipalem Urban Health Centre.
In response, the Collector directed that high-risk pregnant women must receive immediate and prompt medical attention without any delay. Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao, District Medical and Health Officer, further highlighted the necessity of early identification of high-risk pregnancies to ensure timely vaccinations, adequate nutritional support, and comprehensive healthcare services.
