During a recent marathon near Savitribai Phule Pune University, a runner's life was saved thanks to the immediate intervention of a fellow participant. The runner collapsed unexpectedly, showing no pulse or breathing, prompting bystanders to call for medical assistance.
Tushar Paturde, who had completed CPR training only a week before, rushed to the scene. He administered CPR for approximately 10 minutes until emergency services arrived, stabilizing the runner for transport to the hospital.
Medical experts emphasized that such early intervention during the critical first few minutes after cardiac arrest significantly increases survival chances. The event underscored the low CPR awareness in India and the need for more widespread training.
