- A high-protein, low-fat, low-carb diet excluded all snacks.

Jesse Mulley, a 36-year-old Canadian, achieved a remarkable weight loss of over 300lbs, transforming from an estimated 560lbs to around 230lbs. At his heaviest, Mulley's struggles with binge eating and a remote tech support job led to a scale that couldn't register his weight. Previous attempts at dieting, including Weight Watchers and keto, only resulted in increased weight gain.
In October 2022, a YouTube video inspired a critical mindset shift: the importance of perseverance. Mulley committed to a new lifestyle rule: he would not quit, even with slow progress or occasional cheat meals. This determination fueled his journey, beginning the day after watching the video.
His new diet focused on high-protein, low-fat, and low-carb foods, completely eliminating snacks. Initially consuming around 1,200 calories and 176g of protein daily, Mulley later increased his intake to 1,800 calories under the guidance of a personal trainer. He incorporated weight lifting and VR gaming for exercise.
Within three months, Mulley lost 100lbs. Over the subsequent three years and four months, he continued this progress. After reaching his goal, he underwent two surgeries in early 2025 and January of this year to remove approximately 48lbs of excess skin. He has since returned to playing ice hockey and coaches others looking to lose weight.
