Hospital Refuses Hearse, Man Carts Wife's Body Home

A man was compelled to carry his wife's body on a pushcart from Badshah Khan Civil Hospital to his home in Faridabad. The 35-year-old husband, Jhunjhun, stated that he could not afford private hearse services, which cost at least ₹700. He also alleged that hospital staff refused to arrange any transportation for his deceased wife, Anuradha Devi. Devi had been battling tuberculosis for months and had received treatment at various hospitals, including AIIMS-Delhi. The incident has led to an official inquiry into the hospital's bereavement support protocols. Officials are investigating claims of negligence or deliberate refusal by hospital staff. The Deputy Civil Surgeon confirmed that the hospital uses Red Cross Society for hearse vans, separate from patient ambulances, and departmental action will be taken if negligence is found. The inquiry will also ascertain if the family had requested a hearse van.
