A fever outbreak at the Sivannapeta Gurukul School in Parvathipuram Manyam district has impacted 71 girl students. Health officials are monitoring the situation, with 30 students having fully recovered. Currently, 38 students are receiving treatment within the hostel, and three have been transferred to the Kurupam Community Health Centre.
The District Medical and Health Department confirmed that all affected students are in stable condition and the situation is under control. Diagnostic tests revealed one student positive for Plasmodium falciparum malaria, while the remaining 515 students tested negative. Blood samples from 44 students with fever showed normal results and are undergoing further investigation.
Medical experts suspect the fevers could be linked to viral infections following a recent cyclone. Water samples from the hostel have been sent for laboratory examination, and the school is providing boiled and cooled water, with one RO plant undergoing repairs. Health officials are maintaining surveillance across residential schools in the district.
