Maharashtra's Health Department has established 580 dedicated Menopause Clinics within its public health infrastructure, commencing operations on January 14, 2026. These specialized outpatient centres are designed to offer comprehensive care every Wednesday, addressing the diverse health requirements of women during midlife.
The clinics provide complimentary services, including gynaecological consultations, counseling, and screenings for bone, heart, and hormonal health. Access is direct through nearest government hospitals or urban health facilities, ensuring broader reach for women across districts.
An official report indicates that by February 11, 2026, these 580 clinics had examined 31,288 women, successfully treated 30,034, and referred 82 for specialized care. The initiative spans numerous districts and major municipal corporations throughout Maharashtra.
In parallel, the Maharashtra Palliative Care Programme was also launched to offer pain management and psycho-social support for patients with long-term illnesses.
