Maharashtra initiated a significant statewide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive on March 8, coinciding with International Women's Day. This campaign aims to inoculate 9,84,414 girls between the ages of 14 and 15 years. The primary objective is to prevent cervical cancer, a critical public health concern.
The initiative is set to be completed within a three-month period, after which it will be integrated into Maharashtra's routine immunization program. The state government has procured 9,47,380 doses of Gardasil 4, a quadrivalent HPV vaccine effective against the most common and dangerous strains of the virus.
