MP Launches Free HPV Shots for 8 Lakh Girls

Madhya Pradesh has initiated a significant public health campaign, launching a state-wide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive. This initiative aims to provide crucial protection against cervical cancer for approximately eight lakh girls across the state, specifically those between 14 and 15 years old. The HPV vaccine, valued at approximately Rs 4,000 in the private market, will be administered free of cost.
The vaccination program will be available at designated government health facilities for the duration of the next three months. Officials highlighted that cervical cancer is a considerable health concern, identified as the second most common cancer among women in Madhya Pradesh, with a prevalence rate of about 156 cases per one lakh women.
This preventive measure is part of broader efforts to enhance women's health and dignity within the state. The campaign underscores the government's commitment to combating diseases through accessible healthcare solutions and strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure across the region.
