Wall Sits Slash Blood Pressure in Weeks!
4 Nov
Summary
- Wall sits, done three times weekly, effectively lowered blood pressure over time.
- Even reduced frequency to once or twice weekly maintained some blood pressure gains.
- Eight minutes of wall sitting weekly led to healthier blood pressure readings.

A novel study reveals that performing wall sits, a type of isometric exercise, three times a week can effectively reduce blood pressure. These benefits were observed to linger even when individuals decreased their workout frequency to once or twice weekly. Researchers found that participants who maintained their wall-sitting routine saw sustained or increased reductions in blood pressure.
Specifically, after an initial four-week period of wall sitting, all participants showed lower blood pressure readings. While those who continued exercising three times a week maintained or improved their results, individuals who reduced their sessions to once or twice weekly still exhibited healthier blood pressure than at the start. Those who stopped wall sitting altogether lost most of their improvements.
The routine involves four two-minute bouts of wall sitting with two-minute rests in between, totaling eight minutes of exercise. Experts recommend incorporating isometric contractions like wall squats into weekly routines for those concerned about blood pressure, provided they can manage the exercise. However, it is advised to consult a doctor before starting and to complement this with other forms of physical activity.
