Television presenter Louise Minchin has been rushed to the hospital due to frostbite, sustained during an extreme adventure challenge. Minchin, 57, and fellow participant Mimi Anderson, 61, were competing in the Inuvik Weekend Warrior Fat Bike Challenge in the Arctic Circle. Their goal was to cycle 300 miles over three days to raise funds for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
On Friday night, the duo had to withdraw from the event after covering around 140 kilometers in temperatures dropping to -40 degrees Celsius. They reported feeling dangerously cold, recognizing the significant risk posed by the extreme temperature and wind conditions. Despite thorough preparation, continuing the challenge was deemed too dangerous.
Both Minchin and Anderson were diagnosed with frostbite and are receiving medical care. They have expressed that they remain in good spirits despite the incident. Minchin is known for her participation in other physical challenges, including a past appearance on a celebrity special of Gladiators.
