The 100-bed Lohegaon sub-district hospital is set to commence outpatient department (OPD) services on a trial basis from July 6, marking a significant step after years of delay. Built by the Public Health Department at a cost of ₹38.80 crore, the hospital was sanctioned seven years ago to address the healthcare needs of Lohegaon and its surrounding areas.
The decision to start OPD services ahead of the formal inauguration was made at a recent review meeting. Public Health officials confirmed that these initial services will run until July 14 to ensure residents receive medical care promptly. The hospital is expected to be fully operational after its formal inauguration, tentatively scheduled around July 16.
Initially, the facility will offer OPD consultations, with laboratory services, X-ray, sonography, maternity care, and inpatient facilities to be introduced in subsequent phases. Authorities also plan to integrate major and minor surgeries, an intensive care unit (ICU), a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and a postmortem facility. The state government has approved 94 posts for medical officers, nurses, and support staff, who are expected to join before the inauguration.
According to MLA Bapu Pathare, the priority is to make the hospital fully functional as soon as possible, evolving it into a modern healthcare center. Continuous efforts are underway to secure the necessary funds for quality and affordable healthcare services close to home for the residents.
