28 Jun
Summary
- Care home received an 'inadequate' rating for its conditions.
- Smelly sheets and mattresses were noted during inspection.
- The CQC ordered urgent improvements and took further action.

Arncliffe Court Care Home in Halewood, Liverpool, has been rated inadequate after its second consecutive inspection. Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found the facility to be "visibly dirty," noting "smelly sheets and mattresses." This situation has led to the CQC ordering urgent improvements and taking further protective measures for residents.
Andrew Peck, from the CQC, stated that "little improvement had been made" since their previous visit, despite clear directives. He further highlighted concerns that leaders "weren't managing the service well" and that individuals were being "placed at risk of poor care in a place they call home." The home, operated by Advinia Care Homes Limited, provides care for older people, some with dementia, and had 89 residents at the time of inspection.
