Summary
- Three NHS trusts in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire ranked in bottom 13 of 134 acute hospital trusts
- Patients have mixed reactions, with some praising the "top notch" service while others report long waits
- NHS trusts say they have made "significant improvements" but acknowledge more work is needed

According to a new league table published by the Department of Health and Social Care on September 9th, 2025, three NHS trusts in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire have been ranked among the worst performing acute hospital trusts in England. The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust were all placed in the bottom 13 out of 134 trusts evaluated.
The league table scores NHS trusts on various metrics, including waiting times for operations, cancer treatment, A&E, and ambulance response times. While some patients, such as Edward Wyatt from Scunthorpe General Hospital, praised the "top notch" service they received, others reported long waits and overcrowding. Glen Holmes, who brought a family member to Hull Royal Infirmary, said he noticed "people queuing down the corridor."
The Humber Health Partnership and Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group acknowledged the disappointing ratings, but stated they have made "significant improvements in recent years" and are working to further strengthen and improve their services. They emphasized that actions speak louder than words and promised to provide regular updates on their progress.
As the NHS continues to navigate the challenges of the healthcare system, these regional trusts are striving to enhance the quality of care and address the concerns raised by patients in their communities.
