Two girls, aged 11 and 13, were hospitalized after intentionally consuming a significant amount of Benadryl. Lafayette police responded to a call reporting a potential overdose at a home on Chesapeake Court around 2:14 a.m. on Monday.
Upon arrival, officers found the girls experiencing adverse effects from the allergy medication. They reported taking the medicine intentionally, but without mixing it with other substances. This incident is suspected to be related to the "Benadryl Challenge," a dangerous trend popularized on social media.
Emergency medical services provided immediate aid before transporting the girls to a local hospital for further treatment. The Department of Child Services has been notified. As of Thursday, there were no updates on the girls' conditions, and no arrests have been made.
