The Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI) governing body has greenlit the implementation of a Population-Based Cancer Registry (PBCR). This initiative aims to accurately measure the cancer burden and mortality across Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh, providing crucial data for policymakers and healthcare planners.
In addition to enhancing data collection, KSSSCI is set to expand its advanced cancer care services. The institute received approval for introducing proton beam therapy, a cutting-edge radiotherapy treatment that precisely targets tumors while sparing healthy tissue, making it beneficial for pediatric and sensitive organ cancers.
Further enhancing its capabilities, KSSSCI will establish a Quaternary Cancer Care Centre to manage highly complex cancer cases. This center will consolidate state-of-the-art technology and specialized expertise. Approvals were also granted for tele-radiology services, an Advanced Cancer Research Centre, and an Advanced Molecular Lab to strengthen diagnostic and research capacities.
