In a rare video statement, King Charles III announced that his cancer treatment will be scaled back beginning in 2026. The King shared that his own condition has allowed him to continue his duties while undergoing treatment.

While Buckingham Palace has not disclosed whether the cancer is in remission, a spokesperson stated that the King has responded "exceptionally well" to treatment. The ongoing measures will now transition to a "precautionary phase" to ensure his continued recovery, subject to ongoing monitoring. The public learned of his cancer diagnosis in February 2024, with the form of the illness remaining private.

Following his diagnosis and the commencement of treatment, King Charles resumed his public-facing duties in late March 2024, starting with an Easter Sunday service. He has since continued his royal responsibilities. The King conveyed his empathy for those facing a cancer diagnosis, stating he was moved by the "community of care" available to patients.
