Allegations of hospital staff demanding money from patients for treatment have surfaced at King George Hospital (KGH), leading to a swift investigation. District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad conducted an unannounced visit to the facility, personally engaging with patients and their families to understand the quality of care and any difficulties they faced.
During his inspection of key departments, including the Emergency and Burns Wards, the Collector received reports from patient attendants about alleged demands for payment by some staff members. In response, he has directed the KGH Superintendent to conduct a comprehensive probe, emphasizing that such practices are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
The Collector further instructed hospital officials to display clear notices stating that all treatments at KGH are free. He urged patients' families to report any instances of money demands immediately. Strict action is promised against any personnel found guilty of exploiting patients.
