- The family made the decision after the baby was declared brain dead.

A 10-month-old baby girl, Alin Sherin Abraham, has made history in Kerala as its youngest organ donor following a tragic road accident. The infant, a resident of Mallappally, sustained critical injuries on February 5 while traveling from Kottayam to Thiruvalla when her car was hit by another vehicle.
Initially treated in Changanassery and Thiruvalla, she was transferred to Amrita Hospital on February 7. Doctors pronounced her brain dead on February 13. Amid their profound grief, her parents, Arun Abraham and Sherin Ann John, made the compassionate decision to donate her organs.
The retrieved organs, including a liver, two kidneys, a heart valve, and two eyeballs, were allocated to several recipients. A six-month-old baby will receive the liver, marking the youngest posthumous liver transplant in the state. The kidneys are destined for a child at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College SAT Hospital, the heart valve for Sree Chitra Institute, and the eyeballs will remain at Amrita Hospital.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Health Minister Veena George commended the parents' extraordinary generosity during such a difficult time, expressing deep sorrow for their loss and gratitude for their life-affirming decision.
