Kenvue Inc., a prominent US-based consumer health company, is significantly expanding its minor ailment management efforts within China. This strategic move aligns with China's national objective to enhance public health literacy and achieve universal health coverage.
Gift Arpaporn Samabhandhu, president of Kenvue China, highlighted the immense market potential, noting consumers' growing emphasis on self-care and preventive health. A recent survey indicated a strong desire among Chinese consumers to manage common ailments at home, with over 90 percent expressing willingness.
However, the survey also revealed a significant confidence gap, as less than 20 percent felt adequately prepared to manage these issues independently. This underscores an unmet demand for not only medications but also for clear guidance and trusted brands.
In response, Kenvue is broadening its product offerings, including recent additions like Xisimin allergy treatment and Aveeno skincare. The company is also investing in health education through collaborations with medical associations and digital platforms.
Furthermore, Kenvue is actively partnering with major retail pharmacy chains to establish dedicated minor ailment zones. These zones aim to provide comprehensive health assessments and medication guidance, transforming pharmacies into community health management hubs.
This expansion aligns with China's 'Healthy China 2030' initiative, which encourages greater individual responsibility for health. Kenvue aims to support this by providing science-backed products and reliable guidance, enabling consumers to address everyday health needs more effectively.
