Bionic Lord Opens Amputee Centre in Kent

A significant new facility, the Kent and Medway Prosthetics Centre, has opened its doors in Maidstone, Kent. This multi-million pound establishment is poised to become a premier clinic for amputees nationwide. The centre's inauguration was marked by the presence of Lord Craig Mackinlay, a former MP and quadruple amputee who has openly discussed the challenges of accessing timely NHS prosthetics. He was joined by Gurkha veteran Hari Budha Magar, known for scaling the highest peaks globally despite being a double above-the-knee amputee. This facility is set to provide crucial services, rehabilitation, and prosthetic care to more than 1,000 NHS patients. Lord Mackinlay expressed his hope that the centre will offer the vital support needed for amputees to rebuild their lives, emphasizing the difference such resources make.
