Karnataka eyes nationwide tattoo ink safety rules

Officials noted that the country currently lacks specific legislation addressing tattooing and its associated health risks, particularly those linked to tattoo inks. The state has submitted its analysis of existing studies to the Central government, emphasizing the need for a regulatory framework.

A primary concern driving this regulatory push is the identification of potentially harmful chemicals and metals within certain tattoo inks. Health officials explained that these substances could enter the bloodstream during the tattooing process, potentially impacting blood health over time and leading to various diseases.
