Expired Milk Found at Karnataka Rail Stations

A recent food safety inspection drive across 36 railway stations in Karnataka has revealed significant violations. Officials discovered expired milk and curd, food items packed in newspapers, and chutney stored in unhygienic plastic containers. Suspected non-permitted colours, such as yellow in jalebi and pink in khoa peda, were also detected.

Further findings included fungal growth on vegetables and generally unhygienic conditions at several food establishments. Some food preparation units were found using plastic materials and had deficiencies in storage and labelling. The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to inform railway authorities and initiate legal action against food business operators found violating safety standards.
