The number of reported cases has seen a distinct increase in recent months, climbing from 242 in April to 383 in May, and reaching a peak of 414 in June. This yearly surge is notably sharper than in the previous year.
Health authorities typically expect two influenza peaks annually, with a significant one occurring during the July to September monsoon period. Officials attribute the current spike to prevailing weather patterns and anticipate further increases over the next two months, while assuring heightened preparedness.
Districts have been instructed to strengthen influenza surveillance, maintain adequate stocks of Oseltamivir and personal protective equipment, and ensure ventilators are ready for severe cases. Public awareness campaigns on hygiene and early medical attention are also being intensified.
