JSW Foundation has initiated its 2026-27 Village Visit Calendar for Mobile Health Units (MHUs) in Sandur, Ballari district. This program aims to significantly improve primary healthcare access for rural populations.
The initiative, a collaboration between JSW Foundation and Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation, deploys four MHUs to serve underserved villages within JSW's operational areas. These units have been instrumental in providing doorstep healthcare services, benefiting an estimated 67,000 patients across 90 villages since their start until April 2026.
Each MHU is staffed with a doctor, pharmacist, patient facilitator, and social worker. They offer consultations, lab testing, counseling, medicine distribution, and referrals for advanced care. The foundation is investing approximately ₹1.5 crore in these vital services, with digital record-keeping enhancing monitoring and follow-up. Regular visits facilitate early detection of chronic conditions and reduce patient travel burdens.
