Summary
- Gosselin coughed up a blood clot, prompting hospital visit.
- He was diagnosed with DVT and two pulmonary embolisms.
- Gosselin also questioned a $20,000 hospital bill.

Jon Gosselin has detailed a harrowing medical emergency he experienced in late October 2026, just weeks before his wedding. The health scare began with calf pain, escalating to groin and shoulder discomfort, and culminated in him coughing up a blood clot.
This alarming symptom prompted Gosselin to seek immediate medical attention, driving himself to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his leg and two pulmonary embolisms in his lungs, a serious condition.
Gosselin was treated with IV blood thinners and is undergoing further testing to understand the cause, considering factors like testosterone use and missed phlebotomy appointments. He also revealed a past DVT diagnosis following COVID-19 hospitalization.
Adding to his distress, Gosselin received an unexpected $20,000 hospital bill for an 18-hour stay. He is now collaborating with healthcare specialist Rachel Strauss to contest the charges, suspecting the hospital of double-billing.
Strauss, who is also known as the "PBM Princess," works to help patients navigate medical billing complexities and reduce costs. Gosselin recently attended a screening for her documentary, "Side Effects May Include," which examines prescription drug pricing.
