JIPMER Becomes Health Tech Assessment Center of Excellence

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has advanced its Health Technology Assessment capabilities by establishing a Centre of Excellence. This upgraded facility builds upon the work of its former Resource Hub for Health Technology Assessment.

As of 2026, the institute has successfully completed 30 research studies. Furthermore, it has organized or contributed to 40 national and international capacity-building events and published 31 articles in peer-reviewed journals. This demonstrates a strong track record of research and knowledge dissemination.

In its new role as a Centre of Excellence, Jipmer will enhance Health Technology Assessment across India. Its expanded responsibilities include providing expert technical guidance on advanced HTA methodologies and contributing to the creation and refinement of national standards and best practices. The center will also support quality assurance for HTA studies.

Specialized studies, methodological research, and multicentric projects will be undertaken by the Centre. These activities are designed to generate crucial evidence that will inform healthcare decision-making processes. Additionally, Jipmer will focus on further capacity building within the field.
