Despite the suspension of several officials, including hospital administration and blood bank staff, and the announcement of a Rs 2 lakh compensation per family, the affected families report a severe lack of outreach from authorities. They received only a month's supply of antiretroviral therapy medication with minimal guidance, leaving them and their communities largely uninformed about HIV transmission and care.
The HIV diagnosis has intensified the existing hardships, leading to social ostracization, with some families forced to leave their homes due to the stigma. The promised financial aid and support services are either delayed or insufficient, forcing these vulnerable families to cope with immense distress and uncertainty about their children's future.
