New Endoscopy Unit Ends Long Journeys for Patients

Specialised upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy services are now available at Jeypore District Hospital in Koraput, a significant development for patients in the district and neighbouring areas. The advanced endoscopy machine was commissioned on Wednesday, fulfilling a critical healthcare need.

This state-of-the-art equipment will enhance gastro-intestinal diagnostic capabilities locally. Patients previously had to undertake journeys to Visakhapatnam, Jagdalpur, or Bhubaneswar for examinations of the oesophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine. This often led to increased expenses and delays.

The new facility is expected to improve early detection of conditions such as gastric ulcers and oesophageal disorders. It provides accessible, advanced diagnostic procedures, reducing the financial burden and hardship previously faced by patients and their families.
