- System monitors vital signs and connects with care teams.
- Pilot aims to reduce care staff visits and improve independence.

A 10-month pilot scheme is underway in Jersey to test automated medication dispensers within people's homes. The technology aims to assist individuals who rely on regular medication by ensuring they receive the correct dosage at the appropriate times, thereby reducing instances of missed or incorrect doses.
The system is designed to go beyond simple dispensing by monitoring key vital signs such as heart rate. It also establishes a connection with care teams and pharmacies, enabling more rapid responses when support is required. This advancement is anticipated to lessen the necessity for multiple daily visits from care staff.
The project specifically targets individuals managing multiple medications, living with long-term conditions, or requiring additional support from care providers. Beyond improving day-to-day patient care, the pilot is set to generate Jersey-specific data on clinical outcomes, workforce implications, and the cost-effectiveness of this healthcare delivery method. The scheme received £77,500 in funding from Impact Jersey, delivered through Digital Jersey, and is being implemented by European technology specialist Evondos.
